Play OverviewPlay Overview

SteamWorld Quest (2019): Hand of Gilgamech is a turn-based role-play where you use cards to attack and defend yourself. You play as a team of sentient steam-powered robots travelling across a steampunk fantasy world.

Play involves exploring the side-scrolling world areas to find loot and treasure. You encounter enemies and battle them using the different cards in your deck. This combines with role-play upgrading of characters to help you progress and take on harder enemies. It's a turn-based challenge which moves the strategy from prioritisation and shooting to combining attack and defence abilities effectively.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Steamworld Quest 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 4 weeks ago.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 7 for violence that lacks any apparent harm or injury to fantasy or mythical beings and creatures and pictures or sounds likely to be scary to young children. Players engage in turn-based battles in which characters stand on opposite sides of the screen. All characters have health bars and react mildly and unrealistically when hit. There is never any blood or injury present. When defeated, enemies usually fall to the ground and vanish into thin air. There are a couple of scary bosses with menacing designs that can be frightening to younger children.
