Play Overview
Tens! (2017) is a colourful puzzle game where you lay blocks of dice into a square aiming to make a row or column of ten points in total. As you complete a ten, you score points and the tiles used are cleared away. The simplicity and vibrancy of this game makes for a relaxing, but enjoyable experience.
Play involves selecting tiles and adding them to a five-by-five grid. There is a wide variety of shapes and combinations available, some of which help your play, whilst others hinder by taking up valuable space. You must utilise space carefully and make combinations of ten, so that you keep the square free for further play. Much like Tetris, the game ends when the space is full and no more combinations can be made.
There are three modes of play: endless, adventure and player vs player. As you play through adventure mode, the puzzles become more complex and you are faced with boss puzzles where you compete against an AI character to complete the puzzle first.
The result is a game that you can learn in an instant, yet still has enough complexity to keep you thinking and wanting to play. Add to this its colourful visuals and enjoyable tactility and you have a game that is both relaxing and mentally stimulating to play.
