Thank Goodness You're Here! is a slapstick adventure set in Northern England in the style of classic Beano comics. Play involves exploring the cartoon world to take on quests and special challenges. It stands out for the visual style, but also a combination of mini-games and a mysterious narrative to discover.
You play a travelling salesman in town for a big meeting, who explores Barnsworth to meet the locals and take on all manner of increasingly odd jobs (cut the grass, bake a pie, traverse the astral plane). Play involves traversing the world in platforming style, and taking on the varied challenges. Similar to games like WarioWare, the focus is on variety rather than hardcore difficulty.
As you progress and complete the different jobs you can access more of the town. The tasks get stranger and stranger as the clock ticks towards your big meeting.
The result is a tongue-in-cheek romp down memory lane to a simpler time. The world and its inhabitants are brought to life with vibrant hand-drawn animation, fully voiced dialogue, and wall-to-wall double entendres. Perhaps it's more Viz than Beano. Either way, it's an experience firmly rooted story in traditional Yorkshire folklore
