Play Overview
The Flower Collectors (2020) is a point-and-click game set in post-Franco Barcelona, about an ex-cop in a wheelchair, witnessing a murder. Play is based in your apartment, using cameras and binoculars to observe and work out what happened. Unlike other murder mysteries, being stuck in your flat creates a powerful way to tell a story from a fixed perspective.
It's a detective mystery set in the political powder keg of Barcelona in 1977 where all the residents are anthropomorphized animals. You play Jorge, a retired policeman who uses a wheelchair, struggling with a difficult past. Alone on your balcony, you watch the world pass by through binoculars and, one stormy night, you witness a murder. You form an alliance with Melinda, a young ambitious journalist to investigate what happens.
Play is a combination of observation through your binoculars, piecing together clues on the board and getting Melinda to track down further details. As you do, you get to know the anthropomorphic characters who live in the city. As you progress this enables you to create a crime chronology to figure out whodunnit. Priests, beggars, club singers and nosy old ladies all need to fit into the story of what happened.
