Play Overview
Ghostwire Tokyo (2022) is set in Japan where the population has vanished, and supernatural creatures roam the streets. You explore this open world on a mission to find out what happened and to save your ill sister. To do this you develop an arsenal of elemental abilities and work to unravel the truth behind the disappearances.
Deadly supernatural forces and dangerous occultists control the city and have vanished the people who lived there. You play as Akito, who was saved from the cataclysm by a spirit named KK who now demands you join him on his quest for vengeance.
As you progress and explore the richly rendered city there are high-energy encounters with dark spectral enemies alongside the more sedate ways to help the city folk's spirits. In return for your assistance, you can upgrade your special powers and ghost-hunting abilities. Use your ethereal abilities to ascend to the top of Tokyo's skyline. Soar over the streets to discover new missions or even get the drop on your enemies.
The result is a game as much about exploration and tangents as its save-the-world meta-narrative. For those happy to putter around the side missions there's an enthralling world to slowly explore. From ultra-modern cityscape to traditional temples and narrow alleyways, you discover a hauntingly beautiful city teeming with strangeness and spirits.
