Play Overview
2048 (2014) is a puzzle where you merge tiles in the grid by swiping matching numbers together. To play you simply select one of the four directions to move the tiles, aiming to get matching numbers to hit one another and merge. The catch is that all the tiles move together, and each move adds a new tile to the grid. It stands out for the simple controls and steadily escalating positional challenge.
It's a mathematical-themed puzzle game. To do well you need to carefully consider which direction is the most efficient way to merge tiles and ensure matching numbers are next to each other. Because all the tiles move in the selected direction at once, care is needed to avoid matching numbers isolated from each other.
As you progress you can develop different strategies to stay on top of the tiles, both to get the highest score and not run out of space. One approach is to aim to keep the largest tiles in a specific corner and to fill the related row with the other large numbers.
The result is an approachable puzzle game with endless permutations that encourage deep strategies.
