Play Overview
AER Memories of Old (2019) is an exploration game where you transform from a woman to a golden eagle at will. As Auk, your quest is to save the world by finding the lost keys and restoring balance.
The gods of old are forgotten, lost in the events that shattered the world, leaving only fragments of islands in the sky. This mystic world of endless skies, colourful islands and ancient ruins is in danger of falling into darkness. As one of the last few shapeshifters, you are sent on a pilgrimage to the Land of Gods. Uncover the secrets that will help save reality itself.
Play involves using your shapeshifting ability to traverse between the islands of the world. As you progress you solve simple (but increasingly complex) puzzles through three temples to access new areas and find the ancient artefacts you need. You find lights around the world that can be triggered by your lantern to show echoes of the past in the form of silhouetted characters.
It's a sparse world that used to be inhabited but is now relatively barren. This, along with the flying, lends the game an ethereal sensibility. Some may find there to be not enough to do, but this is a game that invites investigation. Inquisitive players are rewarded with backstory and discovery of more of the open world to fly through.
