Abzu (2016) is an adventure in a lush underwater world. You descend into the heart of the ocean to find ancient secrets and encounter majestic creatures. This combines the beautiful weightlessness of diving with an ancient story of finding meaning and your place in the world.
Play involves swimming around to explore each of the new areas you visit. You are led through what becomes a gentle adventure by robot characters you meet and befriend. As you delve deeper, you discover a beautiful underwater realm and the creatures that live there.
But this is more than a journey through an underwater land. The narrative soon gathers pace and invites you to ask questions about who you are in the game, how you got there and where you need to go. By the end, you discover that all is not what it seems.
The result is a game as much about identity as scuba diving and bio-diversity. It's a tantalising look under the waves, but also what lies under our own personas.

Rated for younger players in the US. Rated ESRB EVERYONE for Mild Fantasy Violence. Players control a diver that swims through ancient ruins, caves, reefs, and schools of fish. One artefact shoots laser beams that can hit the diver and passing sharks. Sharks are occasionally shown attacking the player's drones.
Skill Level
7+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Because of the mostly slow nature of the game it works for young children. You need to persist in exploration and puzzle-solving, but there isn't often a time limit. Older players can get more out of the narrative that develops.
