Play OverviewPlay Overview

Beastieball is a sports adventure game where you use Pokemon-style creatures in turn-based volleyball matches. You grow your team, develop interpersonal relationships, and take on ever-stronger opponents to win the prestigious Crown Series championship. It's an unusual combination of creature collecting and competition, that focuses as much on team friendships as each character's special abilities.

The game is set in a world filled with creatures called Beasties, which have evolved to play a volleyball-style game. You play an ambitious young Beastieball enthusiast who wants to become a coach and win the world's biggest Beastieball event. When you encounter a group of wild Beasties, the hunt to find your team begins.

Play involves exploring the world, interacting with characters, collecting new Beasties for your team, and competing in matches. The matches are turn-based, split into attack and defence phases depending on which team has the ball. When you have the ball, you can pass it between your Beasties, move them around the pitch, and throw the ball back to the other side. You have various moves for each action, and careful choice of what to do is essential. When the other team has the ball, you can select different defence options to stop the ball from touching the ground.

You win a game by touching down the ball on the other team's side, either by throwing it to where there is no defender or by draining all of one of the opposing Beastie's energy with your throws so they drop the ball. As you win games and your team levels up, some Beasties evolve into more powerful forms. The Beasties on your team can form close bonds, which affect how they play when on the pitch together, so carefully nurturing relationships and friendships between your Beasties, and experimenting with different team structures, is essential.

The result is a game that combines turn-based battling and creature-collecting with a sports narrative to create a unique and unusual game that's both fun and challenging.
