Play OverviewPlay Overview

Critter Crunch (2012) is a matching brain game where you use Biggs' long tongue to feed small creatures to larger ones until they burst. Play is a spin on Puzzle Bobble, but here the sequence of matches is as important as matching the same coloured creatures together. It stands out for its Food Chain mechanic that determines who eats who, and a light-hearted take on the harsh reality of prey and predator.

You grab critters from vines above you and then release them to feed them to other creatures. The aim is to fill them to bursting, literally, as then they explode and drop jewels. The twist is that by getting the sequence right you can string together longer and longer food chains, which results in more jewels.

The result is a puzzle game that's deceptively deep. The simple concept is well-developed to keep you engaged with different levels, power-ups and special critters.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 3 for mild violence.
Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

In the US, ESRB state: Players need to feed these critters to each other so that they'll burst and drop tasty jewels for points. Some critters emit a green fluid that sticks to the screen after they burst. When the central character pops enough critters in a chain, it will regurgitate (i.e., vomit) a rainbow-colored flow of liquefied jewels into its offspring's mouth. This stylized depiction is not accompanied by visuals or sound effects that would be considered gross or off-putting. In one cutscene illustration, a creature is shown smoking a pipe while wearing a smoking jacket and playing chess.
