Cruis’n Blast (2021) is a brash over-the-top racing game based on a series of big arcade machines. Competing with games like Ridge Racer, OutRun and Daytona USA, it offers whacky racing with big and bombastic visuals and characters.

On Switch Cruis’n Blast offers 30 over-the-top tracks and 23 custom vehicles from licensed supercars to monster trucks and unicorns. As you can tell this is on the far end of fantasy arcade racing. The game offers five real-world locations (London, Madagascar, Rio de Janeiro, Death Valley, Singapore and California) but these continue the fantasy theme with buildings collapsing, planes crashing and Ferris wheels rolling across the road.

Different versions of the game are available:
  • Cruis'n USA (1996) on Nintendo 64 and Arcade
  • Cruis'n World (1996) on Nintendo 64 and Arcade
  • California Speed (1998) on Nintendo 64 and Arcade
  • Cruis'n Exotica (1999) on Arcade, Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color
  • Cruis'n Velocity (2001) on Gameboy Advance
  • Cruis'n (2007) on Wii
  • Cruis'n Blast (2017) Arcade, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Wii, Nintendo Switch

Rated PEGI 7 for mild violence that lacks any apparent harm or injury to fantasy or mythical beings and creatures, as well as violence against humans that is not shown but is implied. Players are able to cause other racers to crash. Some of these racers take the form of fantasy creatures, such as dinosaurs or unicorns, while some take the form of vehicles with characters implied to be inside. Vehicles tumble over and sparks fly, although no lasting injuries or harm are shown. Some of the courses also feature violence between fantasy creatures, in the background, such as two Yetis fighting. Again, there is no visible harm or injury.
