The ESRB expand on its rating: While the focus of the game is to help care for animals and to preserve their natural habitats, some encounters with sea creatures may be suspenseful and somewhat frightening: Sharks and crocodiles charge at players, whacking them with their tails; danger alerts appear on screen to warn players of aggressive animals; and stinging lionfish, electric eels, and schools of piranha may deplete players' oxygen tank (e.g., "My air has run out! . . . I'm . . . blacking . . . out"). In most cases, player-divers can attempt to dodge attacks or flee the area; in some cases, players use an electromagnetic pulsar gun to subdue the animals. Although many aspects of the game are educational —reference books contain 3D images and information about animals, including biological facts and trivia — some of the in-game dialogue adds to the foreboding tone (e.g., "Set . . . killed his mother . . . childbirth . . . The god of darkness."). And a collection book containing information about constellations and legendary Greek gods includes the following passage: "Apollo, god of the sun, was deceived by the raven, who acted as his messenger, into believing that his lover had been unfaithful to him."

Skill Level

6+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Played with a parent or sibling, younger players can enjoy exploring the ocean and identifying different fish.

You can only play this on older systems (Nintendo Wii) but can usually find it second hand on eBay. There are no additional in-game purchases, loot boxes, adverts or subscription costs.
