Foamstars (2024) is a team-based shooting game where you fire colourful foam from your gun instead of bullets. Using the foam, you not only defeat opponents but also create colour-coded areas to slide around on surfboards and build fortresses to gain an advantage. It stands out for how the geographical tactics where you change the map with your foam to create ever-evolving strategies. It brings the popular fun of Splatoon that's only on Nintendo systems to the PlayStation.

Play is based on 4-vs-4 team battles where the aim is to shoot and defeat every member of the opposing team. You shoot foam from a variety of weapons that are colour-coded for your team. The foam builds up as it lands on the ground to enable the creation of ramps and slides you can surf along quicker than running. You can also build towers and fortresses that offer both traversal routes and defend against incoming attacks. Working as a team you must utilise your foam to the best effect in ambitious and experimental strategies is essential for success.

The result is a game that takes shooting in a less violent direction. Your weapons are not only about offence but also useful to build defences and aid with quick movement around the battlefield. Communication between your team and adapting to your opponent's moves is essential, and winning a match is a fun and rewarding team effort.
