Play OverviewPlay Overview

Frog's Princess (2020) is a narrative game about a kingdom surrounded by evil. You play a young princess who must save her kingdom. Along the way, you encounter a frog prince on a quest to rescue his bodyguard and find your plans overturned.

When you begin, you will be asked to choose the story from the princess’s or the frog’s point of view. Play involves making choices about the appearance and identity of your character that doesn't have to conform to gender norms, is neurodiverse and can even be bald (to accommodate young players with cancer).

While the game keeps things in line with its Disney-looking story, players meet strong characters, take on ethical questions and poignant moments. What starts as a simple hero's journey soon becomes more complex and contested. This is reflected in the range of options for your dialogue choices. You choose from 10 speeches each time the prince and princess speak: traditional, idealistic, kind, charming, artistic, intellectual, protective, fun, commanding, or peaceable.

By the end of the story, you will have saved the kingdom. But you will have done it in your own way, with your own unique hero. Rather than choose your own adventure, here, you choose your own hero to finish the adventure. The focus on humour throughout ensures the game doesn't feel preachy while at the same time raising some important themes for young players.
