Play Overview
Gunpoint (2013) is a stealth puzzle game where you play freelance spy Richard Conway, tasked with infiltrating buildings. To succeed you must avoid guards and bypass security, using various high-tech gadgets. Through these missions you seek to clear your name in the murder of a high-profile weapons manufacturer, and uncover a hunt for the real killer.
Each mission involves running, jumping and creeping around a building to hack into a computer before getting to the exit. You navigate in two different view modes, a normal rending of the rooms and a Crosslink view that shows the locations of guards, doors, switch panels, lights, security cameras, and the target objectives. This requires platforming action and stealth along with logic puzzle solving to proceed undetected.
You can run and climb as well as use stairs and elevators. But it's in the careful rewiring of security controls that the game really comes to life. You can create distractions or disable devices to sneak through undetected by guards. Or you can lure guards into areas where they can be neutralized.
It's an unusual game for the combination of action and puzzles. You can create your own levels as well as try other people's creations.
