Play OverviewPlay Overview

Kaze and the Wild Masks (2021) is a running and jumping game where you play as rabbit Kaze who is rescuing friends from a curse. Drawing inspiration from classic 1990's platforming games like Donkey Kong Country, you explore levels and battle enraged vegetables. Precise jumping and clever level design combine to recreate the joy of a challenging experience that wants to you discover secrets and proceed.

You journey through the Crystal Islands to find your friends. Along with reaching the end of each area, you are also looking to find hidden gems and secret items. This means you often play levels multiple times to find everything.

You move around with a range of abilities that focus on your large ears. This enables you to float when you need to, as well as stomp and stamp on enemies. Additional abilities are drawn from combination with different animals unlocked by accessing magical masks. Pounce ferociously like a tiger, soar through the sky like an eagle, sprint fiercely like a lizard and rule the sea like a shark.

At the end of each world you take on boss battles, that are varied and inventive. Throughout the 30 or so levels you will find a substantial challenge, and although you don't get lives you can retry as many times as you want.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 7 for fear and violence. This game features combat between fantasy characters. The violence in this combat is unrealistic and cartoon-like, as are the reactions to it. Enemies flash when hit, fall off-screen or disappear in puffs of smoke when defeated. The player’s character starts blinking when hit and the screen quickly fades to black when the player is defeated. Some of the boss fights in the game feature menacing creatures with designs that may scare young children.

Rated for younger players in the US. ESRB EVERYONE for Mild Fantasy Violence. Players hop on and/or use spin attacks against vegetable enemies (e.g., bouncing eggplants, chomping corn cobs). Enemies cry out and disappear amid puffs of smoke when defeated. When boss characters are defeated, they are seen exploding in a brief animated sequence.
