Last Day of June (2017) is a game about a couple called Carl and June, who suffer a tragedy when a car accident takes June's life and leaves Carl in a wheelchair. You control Carl, remembering life with June and discovering that you can interact with her paintings in the house. By doing this you can control different characters during the day of the accident and attempt to solve puzzles that will avoid the disaster.
At first, this sounds a little trite and simplistic, but as you play you discover things aren't as simple as they seem. Changing one thing to avoid the accident can lead to other unintended consequences. He may save June but put someone else in jeopardy. Then at the end, you find a twist that subverts who was trying to save who, all along.
It's a moving game and one that traverses difficult territory. However, this offers fertile space in which to consider these things while also facing our own mortality.
