Play OverviewPlay Overview

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020) is an action-adventure game based on the Marvel Comics superhero Miles Morales. It is similar to the first Marvel's Spider-Man game in mechanics although Miles Morales extends this considerably. It stands out for the level of storytelling and the large open world to explore as Spider-Man.

The narrative picks up Marvel's Spider-Man downloadable The City That Never Sleeps story where Miles Morales is bitten by a genetically-enhanced spider and gains powers. Miles is now fully in the Spider-Man role and offers a new game that although smaller in size than the original still offers a considerable experience.

When you encounter enemies in Spider-Man: Miles Morales you fight them with Spider-Man's superhero powers. This focuses on chaining attacks together and using the environment and webs to incapacitate numerous foes while avoiding damage. As you progress you unlock new moves and abilities. Like Arkham Batman Arkham the combat is exuberant and enjoyable while the wider game offers an almost endless array of different things to do in your crime-fighting character.

This adds new set pieces, villains, and quests. Also, the PlayStation 5 version offers advanced haptic feedback, real-time ray tracing effects, 3D spatial audio and reduced loading times.

Our examiner, Jonah Monaghan, first checked Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Andy Robertson and updated 12 weeks ago.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 16 for frequent scenes of strong violence. Gameplay is non-realistic looking, with kicks, punches and blows from objects resulting in exaggerated responses and no visible injuries. However, cut scenes feature more realistic-looking fights, with characters displaying bruising and scratches as a result of fighting. There are no blood effects. In one scene, a character is shackled to a chair and subject to electric shocks, resulting in pain noises.

Rated for younger players in the US. Rated ESRB TEEN for Blood, Drug Reference, Language, Violence. Players fight crime, swing around buildings and engage in melee combat with various thugs. Characters mostly punch, kick, and throw each other during fights; some enemy characters also use pistols and machine guns. Combat is highlighted by realistic gunfire, screams of pain, impact sounds, and occasional slow-motion sequences. One cutscene depicts a character in the background shooting himself in the head; another cutscene depicts a mugger shooting an innocent character (just out of frame). Some missions/plotlines involve drug deals and “designer narcotics”; one scene briefly shows a duffel bag full of white packages of the drug. The word “sh*t” appears in the dialogue.

Skill Level

11+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. Although younger children will enjoy swinging around, the skill to progress the story and complete missions means that you need to be a bit older to really get the most from this.
