Play Overview
Paper Trail (2024) is a traversal puzzle game about Paige, a budding academic who is leaving home. Play is set in a foldable paper world that you manipulate to join paths, move rocks and overlap the two sides of reality. It's a unique double-sided puzzle that tells a story about finding your feet and making new friends.
Play involves exploring a world made entirely out of bits of paper. Like paper, you can fold it, bend it, spin it, twist it and even tear it to overcome obstacles and find your way around. As you progress, you meet and talk to the people in your village and learn their stories. Some of them need help, which usually involves working out how your paper-folding ability can be put to good use.
It's a beautiful, charming world that offers a calm, relaxing space in which to discover the coming-of-age narrative. The puzzles provide some challenge and ingenuity that can take time to figure out, but are always satisfying.
The result is a devilishly tricky adventure that introduces Paige to a unique cast of characters, each with their own stories and views of the wider world. From untouched deep dark caves to the tallest treetops buffeted by rain, it's a game that invites exploration.
