Play OverviewPlay Overview

Sometimes You Die (2014) is an unusual sliding and jumping game. As you play there is a written narrative on the walls of each level that discusses game design, player motivation and the metaphysics of life. More unusual though, is that to progress you have to die. When you do your cube character remains in the level. This means you can use your previous lives to create platforms that help you progress.

Play involves sliding and jumping around levels to get to the exit. Sometimes this is about perfectly timed jumps, at others it is thinking tangentially to use your previous attempts to built new platforms to jump from.

The result is a game that plays with expectation, illusion, and reality. After the initial 30 minute run of levels the game adds more and more twists that open the challenge up in new directions.
