Play OverviewPlay Overview

Sounds Fishy (2022) is a push-your-luck communication game where you try to spot fake answers whilst avoiding the real ones. You play by reading out Question cards, making up answers and then spotting who's faking. It is a game of cunning, disguise and deduction where you must play both sleuth and liar.

You play either The Guesser or The Fish in a battle of disguising and finding the truth. The Guesser reads out a Question card before guessing which of The Fish's answers is fake. The Fish are either True Blue hiders of the right answer or Red Herring inventors of fake ones. The Guesser gets a point for each fake answer guessed correctly, but loses all these points if they choose the true one. If you have the most points after everyone has had a round of guessing, you are the winner.

It's a deceptively clever game. Although you play alone, you end up working together against The Guesser, by ensuring your answers don't (or do) stand out from the other Fish. Winning is about lying just the right amount and using the truth as cover.

Our examiner, Rob Prior, first checked Sounds Fishy 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 6 weeks ago.
