Play Overview
Super Adventure Hand (2023) is an adventure game where you are an anthropomorphic hand traversing levels that challenge your finger-based movement. It plays a little like other action platform games, but here your movement and interactions must contend with having no legs. It stands out not only for the peculiar (slightly gruesome) disembodied hand but for how challenging this makes usually simple tasks.
You play a former glove salesperson who finds themselves without their body. You must set out on a quest to find your way to the magic mug at the end of each level. Along the way, you take on saw-blades, fires and falling masonry.
As you progress you learn to use your 5 fingers to not only get around but hold things and interact with the world. Your high friction digits let you climb walls and tubes, grab objects and even explode bombs. Using these abilities in clever ways means you can get through each set of challenges.
The result is a game as peculiar to play as it sounds. The feeling of flailing around with only fingers to interact with the world brings a morbid freshness to the classic 3D platforming play style. It's a gimmick, but one the game sticks to throughout and that works surprisingly well.
