Play Overview
Railbound (2022) is a track-bending puzzle game where you lay track, switch points, and use tunnels to get the carriages to the engine in the right order. Although it's the puzzles that keep you playing, there's also a real joy in connecting tracks and seeing the hand-drawn world respond visually and audibly (a little like Townscaper).
Play involves clicking to place tracks that connect and sever railway tracks so that people can reach their homes. You need to do this so the carriages can roll to the train in the right order and orientation.
There are over 100 handmade puzzles ranging from gentle slopes to twisted passageways. As you progress new puzzle mechanics are added like tunnels and semaphores. It's a lovely little game that tests your brain in unusual ways.
Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Railbound 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 14 months ago.
