Play Overview
Shu (2016) is a platform game where you are a member of a bird tribe tasked with returning villagers back home and escaping from a purple cloud monster. You jump and glide your way around the world, meeting new villagers and characters who daisy-chain with your swinging and gliding to expand your running and jumping abilities.
There are five different worlds and lots of levels to explore. Once completed, each level can be repeated to take on a time-trial race against your previous times. There are collectables such as gold butterflies (coins) and babies, as well as a special award for completing the level without dying once.
As you progress you meet and recruit characters to join you. Each of the ten different additions to your group offer specific abilities, from a ground stomp to get through barriers to being able to open up flowers to access new areas and platforms.
With hazardous objects and hard to reach platforms, Shu takes inspiration from Donkey Kong Country and Rayman games. However, Shu adds a unique storyline and the team-up-with-characters ability that makes it an interesting game in its own right.
