Membrane is a traversal puzzle game where you fire blocks into the world to build, bend and break the platforms. Play involves running and jumping around the world, more unusually you can change the levels by firing objects that work with the game physics in different ways.

The game provides visual cues for interactions in a few ways. The first levels in the brain world all have on-screen hints for what to do and press. In later levels the uses colours to guide the player. Pink water will lead you to restart a level, anything Green has to touch another Green thing. The backgrounds are designed to be dark to make them more easily scannable for clues on what to do
