Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor (2024) is a shooting game where you play a dwarf who must survive waves of aliens. Like other auto-shooters, you focus on movement and weapon selection while the game shoots for you. It stands out not only for spinning off the main Deep Rock Galactic game but how it uses the mining and tunnelling to take the auto-shooting genre in a more tactical direction.
Set in the popular Deep Rock Galactic game universe, this offers a single-player take on underground survival. Once you've selected your class of character, each with a different balance of speed, power and abilities, you take on a series of missions. To survive each level you must kill bugs, upgrade your gear, and work deeper into the caves. Complete the mission objectives and return to the Drop Pod in time to earn money for upgrades and more weapons. As you progress you grow your chosen class of miner with modifications, artefacts and upgrades.
The result is a game that's more about movement and enemy management than shooting. It sounds simple, but there's a huge amount of strategy and tactical awareness required to progress.
