Play Overview

Dig Dig Boom is a puzzle game about traversing a mine with explosives to recover buried treasure. The turn-based play means you can take your time with each move, placement of dynamite and gem collecting. It stands out for the kinetic strategy where chain reactions and collapsing rocks are as important as finding the next hoard of precious metal to recover.

Things only happen in the game when you move, so you need to take care that each step you take is in the right direction. The challenge is kept manageable but the grid-based caverns you explore. You learn the rules of how rock, dynamite and gems interact not unlike box-pushing games like Sokoban or strategy classics Chess.

As you progress you build on this understanding of how everything interacts, and how to use them to your advantage. Levels contain both handcrafted puzzles and procedurally generated areas. Each run is different but built out of familiar scenarios and tile sets.

The result is a game that combines tactical thinking with unintended consequences. It's turn-based but still pulses with movement and life as you (carefully) make your way through the mines.
