Play OverviewPlay Overview

Foxhole (2022) is a strategic battle, where you play with hundreds of others to manage not only the front lines of war but also the infrastructure behind your offensive. From your overhead view, you collaborate to devise strategies and build bases, railways, and factories to equip the players on the front lines in the days-long battles against the other team. It stands out for how it forces you to rely on your teammates to achieve long-term, large-scale victories that future players can capitalise upon in the ongoing persistent world.

You choose a side in a World-War-II-era battle and play a soldier as part of a team composed of hundreds of players from across the world. By talking to each other, you must formulate strategies about how you want to defeat the other side in theatres of war that can last for days.

Unlike other games where fighting is the only focus, here you also need to build up the infrastructure supporting your side, from trains and railways, to warships, to factories and roads that create and deliver new weapons and supplies to the front lines. It's slow-paced and some roles can seem unimportant, but it's only by working in groups within your side that you can create an efficient state of battle and claim victory.

The result is a game that offers a permanent, ongoing world at war where you aim to work with others to bring long-term impact. This necessitates efficient and considered strategy amongst the many groups and roles within your side of the conflict, facilitated by good communication and leadership. Knowing that your actions away from the front lines are just as important as what you do in the heat of battle makes for a unique and multi-faceted gameplay experience where everyone has a part to play.
