Play OverviewPlay Overview

Funky Bones IV (2020) is a running and jumping puzzle game. You play a cute skeleton in a cardboard Mexican Day of the Dead world. Jump and twist your way through various obstacles to defeat a final boss and complete the single level. It's a beguiling and unusual experience as visuals meld with the jazz soundtrack and Mexican folk music.

Gameplay involves jumping across platforms made from bones and coffins and cardboard to pulling switches and destroy barriers. There is a section where you have to avoid a light, and a boss at the very end to defeat. Timing is important as well as judging distance in this 3D environment.

Funk Bones IV is the only level in this series in Dreams, the others were made in LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2, and aesthetically this is very similar to those games. The Day of the Dead theme is very colourful if a little macabre and the obstacles and puzzles are challenging, appealing to a wide range of ages.

Our examiner, Andrea Walney, first checked Funky Bones IV (Dreams) 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 16 months ago.
