Play OverviewPlay Overview

Imagine Earth is a simulation strategy where you manage space colonies for a huge corporation. You gather resources, manage your finances, shape the planets and expand your cities while fending off rival companies and alien invaders. It stands out for how environmental consequences play a role in the way you play, with worlds that react to the emissions and pollutants you produce.

In the future, unchecked capitalism has caused Earth to fall into ecological and societal collapse, with the powerful megacorporations fleeing to distant galaxies to set up new colonies and outposts of civilisation. You play one such colonist and must establish yourself across different planets and work to build up cities and factories, and eventually decide between quick riches or sustainable growth.

Play involves mining and harvesting resources to then carefully manage, sell, and use them for expanding your operations. You can alter the landscape to suit your needs, such as changing the coastline and clearing away natural flora and fauna. Still, every action affects the planet, and expansion and pollution can drive it to collapse. This means you are forced to choose between rapid and profitable exploitation, quickly moving from planet to planet, and a more considered approach where you work to protect your land.

The result is a game that offers a unique perspective on the effects of capitalism and profiteering on the environment. It allows you to make and learn from your own choices that directly affect the game world, offering an immersive, engaging, and thought-provoking experience.
