Luigi's Mansion (2001) is an adventure game where you investigate a haunted mansion to capture the ghosts. As long-standing Nintendo character Luigi, you play a ghostbuster to capture various mischievous ghouls and rescue Mario. It stands out for the unusual spooky premise combined with beautiful intricate environments and brain-teasing puzzles.
You play Luigi who, after winning a mansion from an unknown source, sets off to meet up with Mario and investigate. However, when you arrive, Mario is nowhere to be found, and you enter the mansion only to find it riddled with ghosts and spooky apparitions. With the help of a friendly scientist, you hunt down all the ghosts, collect treasure, and rescue Mario from his supernatural prison.
Play involves exploring the mansion's many rooms, defeating ghosts, and finding keys and secrets to advance. You use your flashlight to stun ghosts and the Poltergust 3000, a modified vacuum cleaner, to suck them up and defeat them. At the end of the game, you get a new mansion built for you, the size of which depends on how much treasure you find.

This is an Adventure game with Action, Collecting, Puzzle, Stealth and Traversal elements. You can play with 1 to 2 players in the same room, but you can’t play it online. The 3DS remake added 2-player co-operative mode to the main story by linking two systems and two copies of the game, with one player playing as Gooigi, who can revive infinitely if his health reaches zero, making it perfect for younger or less experienced players to help an older sibling or parent.
