Play OverviewPlay Overview

Overwatch 2 (2016) is a shooting game where the focus is on teamwork and skill rather than violence. In teams of five, you communicate and work together to take out the other team and complete your objective. Along with games like Rocket League, it has professional e-sports competitions where players compete for prizes.

There is a range of modes, each with a different objective, such as capturing an area of land longer than the other team, controlling a robot, and stealing the other team's flag and bringing it back to your base. Each mode features team-based combat with two opposing sides. At the start of each match, you select your character from one of the many characters in the game, each with a unique skill and attributes that need to be mastered to be effective. Characters are further divided into three categories:
  • Damage: offensive-focused characters of which there are two per team.
  • Tank: defensive characters of which there is one per team.
  • Support: characters who can heal teammates of which there are two per team.

The result is a game where communication and teamwork are just as important as shooting prowess. Learning which roles you excel at and working as a team to coordinate who takes what roles to maximise your effectiveness is essential to a successful team.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Overwatch 2 4 years ago. It was re-examined by Ben Kendall and updated 9 months ago.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 12 for Moderate Violence and Bad Language. This game contains frequent non-realistic looking violence towards human-like and fantasy characters. Characters show little reaction to violence, although there is some sight of blood, with damage being indicated by a reduction in health bars. When characters are defeated, they fall to the floor and respawn. There is also use of bad language, including 'bloody'.

Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

Skill Level

10+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. It's also important to ensure children understand in-game purchases and have spending limits set-up. Younger players can enjoy this if they are comfortable with highly competitive games and quick reactions. It can be frustrating when you lose, and you have to rely on teammates which is another tension point for youngsters.

Account Rating

If you are under 18-years-old, your parent or legal guardian must consent when making an account to play online.
