Play OverviewPlay Overview

Ratatan is a rhythm game from the team behind Patapon, where you tap buttons in time with the beat to control your little army in a real-time battle. In this way, you use instruments to issue commands to your troops as they defeat powerful enemies and restore peace. It's a whimsical adventure that stands out for the way both good rhythm and thoughtful strategies are required to really excel.

You play the Ratatan, a group of hardy adventurers with a love of music and rhythm. Along with your trusty bands of Cobun, small but feisty fighters, you traverse the world, defeating powerful enemies and restoring peace and balance.

Play involves moving through the world to battle enemies and earn rewards. To fight you play your instrument by pressing buttons to the beat which, depending on the rhythm, issues different commands to your troops. Time your presses well and your attacks are more effective. There's a significant strategy in how you use your Cobun warriors and the best attacks to use at a given time, and experimenting with different tactics often leads to success. If you lose, you get to keep some of the loot and valuable upgrades and rewards you find, letting you power up your crew and do better the next time.

The result is a game that combines rhythmic action with strategic combat to create a unique and engaging experience. Finding the flow of the music is not only hugely satisfying but also rewarding as your attacks deal ever-greater damage.
