Play Overview
Stormbound (2017) is a strategic battle game combining Chess and Clash Of Clans gameplay. You build an army by earning cards for different units, defences and abilities. These have to be carefully chosen to do well in the battles and steadily improve as you play more games and earn new cards. It stands out for this combination of geographic strategy and combing cards to multiply attacks for strategic adventage.
The game itself has a four-by-four grid into which you play these cards. This mean you must consider not only which units to play but also where to play them so they take on the right enemy units and come out on top. The aim of the game is to get your units to the other end of the board to damage the enemies' towers.
The game proceeds in turns, with each player having a limited amount of time to choose which cards to play. You can only lay certain cards because of the limited amount of manna required to play more powerful units. You can also only lay cards behind your front-most troops, which again adds a further geographical strategy to the game.
While you can have fun with this game on a basic level, to begin with, the layered and deep strategy makes it good for older players. In a family, it's also a nice way to get children to play Chess or a good game for Chess lovers to play on screens.
