Play OverviewPlay Overview

Trip's Voyage (2022) is a running, jumping and collecting game. You play as a cat in a sailor uniform, collecting bells and anchors over a series of colourful platform-filled worlds. Inspired by open world 3D games like Super Mario Odyssey and Banjo Kazooie this colourful little game is polished and full of fun characters. It's ideal for younger players who find large commercial platform games too imposing.

There are currently two levels in this game, Crow's Nest Isle and Tropic Trove (with more expected). The main aim of the game is to collect the golden anchors hidden around the level. To collect them all requires clever use of bounce pads, wall jumps, switch puzzles and other obstacles. Then there are quests from the characters you meet and secret hidden areas.

Along the way you can dispatch enemies with the swing of your tail, but most of the gameplay is centred around jumping, ground pounding and diving. You can also roll along the ground.

It's challenging without being too difficult; a short version of a Nintendo-style open world platform game that's ideal for those wanting to complete a game in under an hour. Or for younger players who don't yet have the patience or time for a full commercial game experience.

Our examiner, Andrea Walney, first checked Trip's Voyage (Dreams) 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 15 months ago.
