Play Overview
Teach Your Monster to Read (2014) is a game about phonics, letters and reading. Children create a monster for a journey through three games. The combination of colourful well-animated characters and proper reading learning is both fun and powerful.
Aimed at children in the first two years of learning to read it includes matching letters and sounds and instils an enjoyment of little books. It’s developed in collaboration with leading academics at the University of Roehampton.
But more than any of this, it works because it is a good game in its own right. The narratives, voice work, sound effects and interactions are well integrated with the learning rather than busy work or repetition, Teach Your Monster to Read is a well-rounded experience.
