Play Overview
Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus? (2022) is a murder mystery game with footage of real actors. Your family meets to play a board game on zoom, but before you start you discover someone has poisoned Uncle Marcus. You have to both play the quiz and glean information about who poisoned him to find the antidote in time to save him.
Play involves stepping into the role of Abby. Each year her family play quiz on her birthday (which she hates). This year though, she has discovered a shocking secret and has to find out who poisoned her uncle before it's too late. As you interact with her eccentric family in the course of the quiz you piece together evidence to solve the mystery and save your uncle.
It's a game where you are unlikely to find out everything with the first play through. But as you play a second or third time, you notice things you originally missed and it starts coming together. There are multiple endings depending on how you do while you play.
Along with the novel premise are the strong performances from Andy Buckley (The Office) as Uncle Marcus and Abigail Hardingham as Abby. The result is an unusual mystery that's both entertaining and intriguing and captures the claustrophobia we all shared during lockdowns (and family gatherings).
