Play OverviewPlay Overview

Adventures of Pip (2015) is a running and jumping where you play Pip, who can transform between three different of himself (1-bit, 8-bit and 16-bit), each with different abilities. As you fight monsters and traverse the deadly terrain, you need to pick the best version of Pip to progress effectively. It's this combination of fast-paced platformer action with the tactical deployment of your limited transformations that makes the game unique.

You play Pip, who starts as a lowly single red pixel. But when his realm is attacked he sets out to become the hero and discovers as he kills monsters he can grow in pixels - from 1-bit to an 8-bit, then a 16-bit character. Aside from the visual differences, each version has a unique set of skills that prove helpful in different environments.

The 1-bit pixel form of Pip is small enough to fit through tight gaps and is light enough to ride on enemies over huge chasms unnoticed. The 8-bit Pip is quick and can hang from walls. The 16-bit version wields a sword, allowing you to defeat enemies more easily.

Although you can transform back to less advanced versions at any point but can only transform up by killing specific enemies. This means you need to be mindful of when you manually transform back down to ensure you don't get stuck. As you progress you unlock new abilities and upgrades that help you fight the ever-harder bosses and allow you to traverse the harder levels, as well as return to the earlier ones to find alternate paths and secrets.

The result is a game with familiar platforming challenges and fast-paced action, but with an additional level of thought and strategy in knowing when to change your form and which form to take.
