Play Overview
Dome Keeper (2022) (formerly called Dome Romantik) is a strategy game where you mine to collect resources in between defending the dome that protects your world from terrible monsters. It's a hard game and when your dome is destroyed you die permanently and have to start from the beginning. This survival challenge, along with the exploration, collecting and crafting make it an unusual strategy experience.
You start by setting up your dome on a desolate planet rich in subterranean resources. This provides breathable air as a base of operations to mine the planet's crust in search of resources to upgrade your defences.
You chose the design of your dome, each with different upgrade options, weaponry strengths and weaknesses, before using bombs and tools to mine the ground and collect the resources in the downtime between enemy attacks. But mining soon becomes a risk as you need to go farther and farther, giving enemies a chance to gather for an attack.
As you progress you discover a wide range of upgrades for both your weapons and the dome itself: increased strength, damage output, weaponry choices along with other perks. You need to use quick thinking and learn from mistakes during these intense combat sections, where having a good strategy is essential.
It's a unique game that combines combat with crafting, mining and resource gathering in a risk-reward challenge that isn't for the faint hearted.
