Gears 5 (2006) is the latest in the Gears of War series of shooting games about a conflict between humanity, the subterranean reptilian hominids known as the Locust Horde, and their mutated counterparts, the Lambent. It's a big brash game franchise with six games, a comic book series and five novels.
You play over the shoulder of a buff soldier using a range of brutal weapons. There's a focus on moving forward tactically to use cover. When you take damage a red fog fades into the screen. It's frantic and exuberant and designed to be fun of the Saving Private Ryan kind.
Gears of War 5 offers a Campaign alongside various other modes: Escape the bomb, Versus Teams, Horde Battles with Four friends. It also has a map builder to create your own experiences to share with and challenge your friends.
