Lucky Life (2019) is a traversal game where you navigate dangerous obstacles to get to the flag. To play you move left or right and can jump or crouch. In this way, you work with the game's physics to avoid dangerous saws, knives, arrows, spikes and bombs.
Similar to other platform survival games like Short Life, the challenge is to carefully negotiate the different hazards without your character injuring themselves (or losing a limb)! The levels start easy but soon add more and more viscous obstacles to avoid. When things go wrong it's with cartoony graphic effect and rag-doll physics. For example, if you lose a limb or foot you can still drag yourself forward while bleeding.
Although play is focused on the comedic bodily destruction there's also a real challenge here. You need to work with the physics of the game and your character to carefully find a way through each level. At the end of each group of 6 levels, you have a trial where you face all those hazards in a row without dying to continue to the next area. You can earn up to three stars in each level by completing additional tasks. For example, you may get an extra star for jumping over the finish line or avoiding a certain object. You can then use these to buy new heroes too.
The result is an over-the-top survival challenge where you inevitably get blown to pieces. It's quick to start again, until you perfect each level and make it to the end.
