Play OverviewPlay Overview

Skul: The Hero Slayer is a running, jumping and fighting game where you play a lone skeleton in a fight against the overpowered human heroes with his unique ability to swap his head, Worzel-Gummidge-style. Each of the heads grants different powers and helps you in your repeated runs at getting through the dungeons that change each time.

Play involves working through the various rooms and environments, attacking enemies and avoiding being hit. As you progress you collect different heads, two of which can be kept with you and switched between. Each head transforms you into a different character with unique attack range, speed and power. The challenge (which is considerable) can only be tamed by selecting the right combos that match your playing style.

At the end of each chapter you take on a huge boss enemy, before being granted access to the next world. Being prepared for these, as well as collecting currency to level up if (when) you die, helps you steadily progress through. It's a tough game that has a more approachable Rookie mode for families who want to scale the challenge to their ability.

Characters flash when hit and damage is shown using numbers. No injuries are shown, although there are sometimes red blood splashes, which disappear immediately. When characters are defeated, they either disappear or are seen lying on the ground. Violence is shown from a distance and with pixelated graphics.
