Play OverviewPlay Overview

Sky: Children of the Light is a narrative adventure about bringing light and connection back to a fallen kingdom floating among the clouds. Play involves gliding through vast, dreamlike realms, collecting light, solving environmental puzzles, and nurturing altruistic connections with others. It stands out for transforming multiplayer interactions into an emotional language of kindness with serene visuals that centre gifting and cooperation.

In Sky: Children of the Light, you play as a Child of Light descending into a kingdom that has lost its stars. You journey through seven realms inspired by stages of life, freeing spirits and restoring constellations while using your cape to soar between floating landscapes and ancient ruins. Exploration and communication rely on shared discovery rather than competition, creating an atmosphere of gentle wonder.

As you progress, you gather light to upgrade your cape’s flight power, unlock expressions and cosmetics from spirits, and deepen friendships through candle offerings. Hidden areas, seasonal events, and the ever-evolving world invite you to guide or be guided by others. You steadily work with interaction, like lighting another’s candle or shared flights, to build a collective sense of progression and belonging.

The result is a game that replaces combat with compassion and turns exploration into a meditative act of connection. Over its life updates and seasons have built a rich world with backstory, ancient history and vibrant characters. Along with the adjacent Sky: The Two Embers animated series, its emotional storytelling emerges through shared actions rather than dialogue, inviting reflection on generosity and togetherness.

Age RatingsAge Ratings

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 7 for Mild Violence and Fear.

Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

Originally, you couldn't chat in the game, but this has been added since launch. Communication is as follows:
  • Gestures and Emotes: Most communication is through body language — bowing, waving, hugging, or holding hands.
  • Text Chat Unlock: You can only use free text chat after you and another player become friends and light a friendship constellation together, then unlock chat at a campfire.
  • Safety Filters: All text input by players — including chat, player names, and Shared Space names — passes through Sky’s family-friendly chat filter before it can be seen by others.
  • Open Chat Areas: In shared spaces like the Home or Seasonal Realms, only emojis and limited messages are enabled.

Skill Level

8+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it’s important for parents and guardians to ensure they understand in-game purchases and have spending limits set-up. The online nature of the game requires good communication and the ability to cope with the (usually friendly) interactions with other players. You need to be able to navigate larger spaces and get used to the precise flight controls.
