Play OverviewPlay Overview

Toroa is a traversal game where you soar, swoop and glide across the vast Pacific Ocean as a Northern Royal Albatross. You take on an epic journey to help of Māori God of the winds, Tāwhirimātea and discover the wonders of the sea and sky.

Play involves a gentle exploration of the beautiful cloud-covered environments as the sun rises. You decide which of the wind paths to use and gain height from. As you progress you find yourself skimming just above the ocean or steering through storms.

More than just a tranquil game of beauty, you need to learn how to use the environment to journey to your destination. Along the way you meet creatures of the South Pacific to befriend and help you on your way: humpback whales, seals and dolphins.

Through this weaves indigenous storytelling, featuring te reo Māori language and a story steeped in te ao Māori (the Māori world). Meet the Atua (Māori Gods) of the ocean and winds, Takaroa and Tāwhirimātea.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Toroa 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 22 months ago.
