Play Overview
Sensorium (2020) is a puzzle game set in a freely explorable island. You need to solve puzzle to access rooms, which usually contain more puzzles granting access to deeper recesses of the buildings.
Play involves exploring the world and using circuit board logic (NOT, AND, NAND and so on) to solve puzzles. These start as figuring out the simple combinations you need but soon stretch your abilities with more intricate scenarios.
The novelty is that the puzzles you encounter focus on using each of your five senses to solve them: touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing. This means sometimes you need to listen to tones for clues to solutions, or colour or even get your character to smell things.
Although it's a hard game, things are kept light-hearted and fair. Sometime you may need a little advice from YouTube to solve something, but the solutions are more about innovative, lateral thinking that sheer weight of complexity.
The result is a unique puzzle game that invites deep thinking and rewards imaginative and creative ways to try solving the puzzles.
