Content Rating

Rated PEGI 7 for Mild Violence. "There are scenes of mild violence involving cartoon-like characters inside space suits. The violence is non-realistic, as are the reactions to the violence." You can view the kinds of violence in this video of the game's death animations.

Initially, this was rated PEGI 16 for Strong Violence, but the rating was checked by a PEGI examiner and changed to PEGI 7. We spoke to the VSC Rating Board who offered some helpful background about the rating being changed. "Among Us was originally released in 2018 with a PEGI 16 rating. Given that thousands of digital games and apps are released every day, it’s not possible for staff to manually check the rating of every digital game and app in advance of release. As such, the initial rating for Among Us was issued on the basis of the developer filling in an IARC (International Age Rating Coalition) questionnaire about the content of the game. The VSC and NICAM check around 10,000 digital games and apps every year to ensure that the ratings generated by answering the IARC questionnaire are correct. With the recent spike in interest in Among Us, the game was checked and it was concluded that a PEGI 7 rating was more appropriate. The rating has now been updated on storefronts."
 
Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

Skill Level

8+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it’s important for parents and guardians to ensure they understand in-game purchases and have spending limits set-up. Although you could play this at a younger age, it's most fun when players understand how to trick (and not to be tricked). Having the skill to convince friends and parents of their innocence has that added irony when you know this is hard to do in real life.
