Play Overview
Ctrl Alt Ego (2022) is a puzzle game where you a disembodied character taking control of robots and electronics to move around, interact and solve the puzzles. Using a combination of stealth and problem solving to progress the story and get to the bottom of what's going on.
It's an existential story about a bug in the system and it's up to you to exploit it to save consciousness itself. You've been downloaded to the evacuated retro-tech space dock where a mind-altering virus has infected the consciousness control stream.
Play involves using your ability to switch between computers, moveable robots, cameras and security doors to get around, solve puzzles and hear from departed crew of the space station. As you progress the computer explains what's happened, although you need to read between the lines for this to be any help.
The result is a delightful journey that calls on you to find and exploit bugs, install and hack disk programs to upgrade yourself and evade hostiles. Will you adopt a strategic, stealthy approach, or tool up and make mayhem? The game lets you progress the way you want, without insisting on a single way to play.
