Resistance 204X is a fighting game with a focus on attrition rather than complex moves. You use precisely timed attacks to repeatedly knock down your opponent and reach their side of the stage. It's an unusual twist for fighting games that focuses not on the damage done but on knocking your opponent down more than they knock you out.

Play involves fighting your opponent with weapons and attacks on a 2D stage with obstacles you need to run and jump over. You start in the centre of the stage. When you defeat your opponent, they reappear slightly closer to their end of the arena. Knock them out multiple times, and you reach their end of the stage and win. If you get knocked out, things move in the opposite direction. It's a tug of war where you must knock out your opponent more than they do you.

The result is a game without the usual memorisation of buttons and attacks. It makes it more approachable for players new to fighting games, but also offers a fresh take on these battles where consistency and timing are as important as muscle memory and depth of knowledge.
