Play Overview
A sequel to 2019's Wargroove, you assume control of various commanders as you defend the realm of Aurania. Rather than a single story, the game is split into three intertwining sections that can be played in any order. Each thread introduces new characters and factions in the world. As you fight invaders and repel their troops, you interact with and get to know your commanders, making unlikely allies, learning revenge and treachery, and restoring peace to the land.
Play involves moving forces, led by your commanders, around the grid-based world in a turn-based manner to engage enemy commanders and their troops. Before you engage an enemy, you must carefully consider the strengths and weaknesses of their troops, and then pick an effective battalion, with carefully selected troops, items, and special weapons, to counter them. Your commanders can use unique Groove abilities to change the battlefield and turn the tide in your favour; you need to carefully choose the best time to use these abilities, deciding whether to use them to gain an advantage or save them for when you're in a tight spot.
New to the second game is Conquest mode, where you choose a commander and build an army, then march into battle against unseen foes. This focuses you on adapting to scenarios rather than just military might. When you die, you start over from the very beginning, and the challenge is seeing how far you can get with your limited resources. You can also create your own stories and battles using the in-game editor, letting you create and share your own fantasy stories with players around the world.
The result is a game that blends strategic action akin to Advance Wars with an exuberant magical world filled with quirky characters, factions, and stories waiting to be uncovered. Whether you play with friends or by yourself, tactical battles, engaging stories, and the ability to create your own fantasy epic means there's always something to work towards.

Skill Level
7+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Younger players need to have good skills in terms of efficient use of units. There is also a need to understand how to pair up units with enemies they have an advantage over. These things need to be handled while the tables quickly turn against you, or the balance of resources in a battle fluctuates unexpectedly. Patience, calm thinking and resilience all play a role. Additionally, in the rogue-like Conquest game mode, you have no idea what enemies you're about to face, so need to be able to adapt on the fly, and not get frustrated when you lose.
