Play OverviewPlay Overview

Fractured Minds (2019) is a short game that explores the implications of living with mental illness. It aims to promote awareness and empathy for these issues. You explore everyday spaces that behave in strange and sometimes disturbing ways. To progress, you need to solve some simple puzzles.

The six chapters are short, in order to encourage people to play through this in one sitting. Each offers a way to experience different aspects of mental health issues, from isolation to anxiety and coping with everyday situations as your perception distorts them around you.

It was developed by Emily Mitchell when she was 17 years old, drawing on her own experiences with severe anxiety, and won her the BAFTA Young Game Designers Award.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Fractured Minds 4 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 3 months ago.
